How we move a car with no wheels

• Flatbed or wheel-lift with dollies. A car on blocks needs to be lifted, not dragged. Depending on how the car is sitting, we use a flatbed or our wrecker with wheel dollies so the hubs, brake rotors and bodywork aren't damaged further.
• Safe lift off the blocks. Stacked blocks or crates can shift. Our driver checks how the car is supported before lifting, so it doesn't drop or slide.
• Straight to the shop. Tell us where you want it: a tire shop, your mechanic, the dealer or your driveway.

Before we arrive: general tips

• Don't try to drive or roll the car, and don't remove the blocks yourself. A car can fall when it's moved.
• Take photos of the car, the blocks, the hubs and any damage from every side before anything is moved. Photos help with a police report and an insurance claim.
• Consider filing a police report. In NYC you can call 311 or visit your local precinct; for a crime in progress, call 911. Ask for the report number.
• Call your insurance company. Whether stolen wheels are covered depends on your policy (often comprehensive coverage). Your insurer can tell you what they need and whether towing is covered.
• If your wheel locks were taken too, the shop will need to deal with the lug nuts. Let them know when you call.
